road constriction with cones

Construction Update

Thank you for your patience as we all navigated the first week of school along with the traffic impacts of construction.  We will all benefit from the construction once it is complete.  In the next couple of months, we will continue to navigate construction as crews build Hwy 5/25/Co. Rd. 33 roundabout and complete Hwy 212 construction.

I wanted to update you on construction this week and the weeks to come.   Many of the traffic issues have come at the elementary school, specifically near the Kwik Trip entrance and finding a way to get from the south end of town to the north end.  This week, MnDOT crews closed Hwy 5/25/Co. Rd. 33/Reform from Co. Rd. 33 to SW Second Ave. through November.  Motorists traveling Hwy 5 are urged to follow the posted detour of Hwy 5, Hwy 284 and Hwy 212.  Motorist traveling Co. Rd. 33 follow the detour from Co. Rd. 34 to Co. Rd. 131 to Hwy 212.  Beginning Saturday night, crews will flip traffic on Hwy 212 from the westbound lanes to eastbound lanes.  Later this week, MnDOT will have more details about the local roads that will reopen or close for the next stage. You can register for email alerts on the MnDOT page: https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/MNDOT/subscriber/new?topic_id=MNDOT_562 For more information, visit the Hwy 212 in Norwood Young America project website at: mndot.gov/metro/projects/hwy212nya.

Please remember to be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.  Please slow down, minimize distractions and stay alert as our school is near the construction zone.
