Students who receive special education services have been found to have a disability and a need for specialized instruction. The eligibility process includes referral, intervention, screening, and assessments. A team from Central conducts a comprehensive evaluation to help determine eligibility and specific educational needs. As part of this process, information is gathered from students, teachers and parents.Students, birth to 21, who have been identified as disabled and in need of specialized programming, receive an Individualized Education Program (IEP). The IEP outlines the unique needs of the student and the specialized goals and objectives that will help the student make educational progress.Students with more significant educational needs may receive specialized services from the SouthWest Metro Intermediate District 288.For more information on special education in Minnesota, please go to the Minnesota Department of Education Special Education Website.The Wild West Special Olympics Team has some openings on their basketball team. Practices are on Saturday mornings in December, and Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings January through March. Please see the following website for more information:
Carver County Drug Use AwarenessThe Carver county Sheriff's Office (using an FBI pilot program) will deliver information regarding substance use and abuse. Specific discussion points will include: National and local drug trends including current slang terms, signs of drug use and abuse, local drug issues, and information regarding how to keep our community safe. Questions and comments from the audience are encouraged. Led by Carver County Sheriff's Office.
