Welcome Central Preschool Families!
We are so happy you chose to enroll with Central Public Schools; we can't wait to get to know your family and start the journey of learning through early childhood. My name is Sue Forster, and I am the Community Education Director. I am thrilled and honored to be part of the school community at Central. As the Community Education Director, I oversee the preschool and ECFE programs, along with adult enrichment, youth recreation/enrichment, and Kids Co. My goal for preschool is to ensure that the partnership between school and home be positive and full of opportunities for children and families to grow and learn together. The staff at Central preschool are excited to begin another school year in our new state of the art facilities in NYA. The construction crews are working to have our building ready for the start of the school year. We can’t wait to show the children, caregivers, and community this amazing facility! Listed below are important details for the upcoming school year.
Open House
Central Preschool will hold an open house to start the new school year. Open house is scheduled for August 30 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in NYA. Students attending Cologne should plan for an open house on August 31 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Cologne. Cologne families are welcome and encouraged to attend August 30 in NYA for Lifetouch photos, and a peek at the new elementary school. The purpose of the open house is to establish rapport with your family, welcome each of you to the Central school family, learn more about your child, introduce your child to the classroom and complete any necessary paperwork. Each student and at least one family member are invited to school for the open house. During this scheduled time, students and parents/guardians will:
- Meet their new teacher and tour the classroom.
- Drop off school supplies.
- Get school photos taken by Lifetouch (available from 3-6pm in NYA).
- Take care of business, such as setting up automatic payments in ELEYO, filling out any additional paperwork, and making screening appointments.
- Meet the new Community Education director.
COMMUNICATION
We value home-school solid communication. Communication is an invaluable tool for ensuring individual student success. Teachers will alert you to upcoming events, projects, and announcements via newsletters and emails. When questions or concerns arise, please contact your child’s teacher. Most issues can be resolved by working together with your child’s teacher. When you need additional help, you can always reach out to the Community Education Office 952-467-7391 or Sue Forster at sforster@isd108.org.
NYA SCHOOL DAY
Please remember that students should be dropped off no earlier than 7:50 am. Our school day officially starts at 8:00 am this year. For the safety of our students, please do not accompany your student into the building. We have staff members at the door to meet the children.
COLOGNE SCHOOL DAY
The school day begins at 7:45 and ends at 10:45 for half day students, full day students attend from 7:45-3:15. Look for bus information from Betsy closer to our start date.
FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR ALL STUDENTS
Breakfast will be provided to preschool children in their rooms during the first part of the day. In addition, lunch will be provided at no cost to all students who attend full day preschool.
NYA END-OF-THE-DAY RELEASE TIMES
If you pick your child up after school, please wait in the car and do not enter the building. Doing this can ensure our student’s safety and speed up the pickup process. The end-of-the-day release schedule is as follows:

SCHOOL SUPPLIES
School supply lists are under the Community Education tab on the district website at www.isd108.org or by clicking Preschool Supply List. Clicking this link Shopping Cart and you will be directed to website, where you can shop online using preloaded carts at many retailers. We are well aware that some items have become more difficult to find. Please do not stress about these items. If your family needs help with school supplies, please contact the Community Education Office at (952) 467-7391.
SCHOLARSHIPS
