school starts

Dear Middle School and High School Families,

I am thrilled to share some fantastic news with you today. After months of hard work, dedication, and your unwavering support, we are pleased to announce that we have successfully passed the fire alarm inspection, and our Middle School and High School will be ready to welcome students, tomorrow, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023!

This milestone represents a significant step forward in our journey to provide an enhanced and safe learning environment for your children. We understand that the wait has been long, and we deeply appreciate your patience throughout this process.

Here are some important pieces of information for you

  • The transportation map is attached.
  • Parents, please drop students off on Morse Street in front of the Middle School.
  • There will be an Open House for families of all students grades 6-12 on Thursday, September 14th from 3:30-5:30pm. While we may have limited staff on hand for this event, we will have members of the High School Student Council present to give tours and direct families.
  • Mr. Larson will be giving a welcome presentation in the commons at 4:00 and 4:45 for families.
  • We will offer transition day content to all 6th and 9th graders during their core classes tomorrow.

While we are excited to reopen our doors, we want to be transparent about the current state of the facilities. There are areas of "continued construction" within the school that are expected to be completed around October 9, 2023. These areas include:
  • Flooring in areas other than classrooms
  • Painting in hallways/bathrooms
  • Media Center
  • Lower Open Study Area
  • STEAM Lab
  • Art Room

Please know that we have prioritized these areas in collaboration with the builder, and as they are completed, they will be promptly opened up for student use. We are committed to ensuring that the
ongoing construction work does not compromise the safety and comfort of our students and staff. Our priority is to provide a conducive learning environment in all aspects.
We recognize that we have all been eagerly waiting for this moment, and it is finally here. Your
patience and understanding have been invaluable, and we are truly grateful for your continued
support. We are overjoyed to see our students return to the classrooms, hallways, and shared spaces.

As we prepare to welcome students back tomorrow, please be aware that our dedicated staff will be on hand to assist with any questions or concerns you may have. We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for both students and parents.

Once again, thank you for your patience, resilience, and unwavering trust in Central Public Schools. We can't wait to see our students back in school, ready to embark on this exciting new chapter of their educational journey. We will communicate with you after the board meeting as to how we will adjust the schedule for the two missed days.

If you have any immediate questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at 952-467-7000. Your partnership is essential to our success, and we are here to support you in any way we can.

With enthusiasm and gratitude,
