The National Honor Society of Central High School held its annual Induction Ceremony on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
The guest speaker was Isabella Miller, a 2025 graduate and former NHS president from Central High School. She spoke of how her NHS experience and the four pillars of NHS (Leadership, Character, Service, and Scholarship) in high school has affected her college experience.
Ten students were inducted into the National Honor Society at the banquet. The faculty council selected each of these students after an application process centering on the four pillars of the NHS. A student must have at least a 3.5 overall GPA to be invited to apply.
They then had to complete a resume centering on their leadership and service to the school and community, write a paragraph about leadership, and have had both community and teacher recommendations in order to be considered for selection. After selection, each student must perform at least 40 hours of service work each year for the community, lead various projects, and be active in the school and community.
The banquet also celebrated the accomplishments of the year with graduating seniors receiving recognition of their accomplishments. Each member had performed at least forty individual service hours each year that they were members of the NHS. The seniors have completed over 1,800 hours in the last two years!
They also took part in and led many group projects in both the school and community. Some of these group projects cleaning up at Stiftungsfest, serving dinner to teachers at conferences, raising money to buy Christmas gifts for those in need in our community, recycling paper at school, Halloween trick-or-treating for the local food shelf and various projects at Central Public Schools, Emanuel Lutheran School, St. John’s Lutheran School and the community.
